The Opportunity: Family Solicitor

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Family Solicitor to join a well-regarded and expanding Legal 500 firm in Yorkshire. This is an ideal role for a motivated and experienced Solicitor seeking a flexible working environment, clear progression opportunities and the chance to work within a close-knit and supportive team.

The firm is known for its client-focused approach and strong regional presence, offering a genuine opportunity to build your family law career within a forward-thinking and dynamic legal practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a diverse caseload including divorce, private children matters, non-molestation orders and financial relief cases
  • Handle files independently, including taking over ongoing cases
  • Attend court for directions hearings, first appointments and FDRs
  • Draft legal documentation and communicate effectively with clients and third parties
  • Ensure full compliance with regulatory and statutory obligations, including Legal Aid Agency (LAA) rules and the Solicitors Act
  • Provide support and supervision to junior colleagues, including file reviews

Person Specification:

  • Qualified Family Solicitor with a minimum of 2–3 years' PQE (or equivalent)
  • Experience handling a broad range of family law matters including children, divorce, financial disputes and domestic abuse
  • Familiarity with TOLATA cases is beneficial
  • Excellent client care skills and strong drafting abilities
  • Confident in legal aid procedures and billing requirements
  • Able to supervise other fee earners and meet LAA supervisor criteria
  • Commercial awareness and ability to generate new business is desirable
