Our client is an established engineering business based in Earith who have been in business for over 40 years!

No qualifications are required, just some experience and competency in Solid Works. They are very keen to provide on-the-job training which will progress your career within the business.

This is an office based only position as they work in a collaborative way as face-to-face communication works better for them.

It would be preferable if you come from an Engineering background, enabling you to better understand that environment. This is not a super creative role where the focus is on aesthetics but more about functionality and specification.

Purpose of Job:

  • To create 3 dimensional models and prepare detailed technical drawings suitable for manufacture, using CAD software and computer visuals as required.
  • Add value to the Customer brief when the opportunity exists to do so.
  • Provide project management support, if required, to achieve customer requirements.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • To design and shape products for a variety of applications.
  • To produce design specifications and technical drawings including parts lists.
  • Design, model, and produce prototypes of new products, or make improvements to existing products.
  • Interact with customers and perform in a professional manner and present a professional image.
  • Recommend modifications following prototype test results.
  • Look to improve or modify cost effective designs to current specifications.
  • Ensure that all administration (internal/external) is complete in full and on time.
  • Maximise efficiency via good time management.

Required Knowledge:

  • A full understanding of Solid Works and similar packages.
  • Understanding of materials and production processes.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of appropriate systems and procedures.

Required Competencies / Skills:

  • Design skills and ability to use appropriate software.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Good personal presentation and ability to build good internal relationships.
  • A creative approach for generating new ideas.
  • An understanding of manufacturing processes and construction methods.
  • Knowledge of materials and properties.

Hours: Monday - Thursday 8am - 5 pm, Friday 8am - 2pm
