Our client is an established business within the agricultural sector but are now setting up a new Division of their business and need expert professional help.

You would be reporting directly to the MD who founded the business. He has an excellent sense of humour, is a very successful businessman who is excited about this new venture.

The role is twofold in that you would coordinate & liaise with the drivers and associated staff as well as planning their routes. The role does not require proficiency in just route planning lorries but a multitude of equipment used on site for hire.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate planning software to produce effective and efficient routes.
  • Plan routes within legal limits and driver working time.
  • Maximise effectiveness of available vehicle and driver resource.
  • You will need to establish a working relationship with other areas of the business (procurement & Sales) as well as supplier to establish what is available when to clients.
  • Liaise with drivers on a daily basis about their routes and any issues.
  • Review accuracy of incoming customer orders for logistical efficiency.
  • Working with the customer service department, review customer orders, priority orders and SLAs.
  • Produce and review all driver schedules and collection paperwork on a daily basis.
  • Produce day to day reports and KPIs on planning efficiency and resource availability and utilisation.
  • Manage on time calls by prioritising customers when planning and keep them updated.
  • Any other duties required to effectively complete the role.
  • Data analysis: - Extracting key insights from transport data to identify areas for improvement and cost reduction.

You will be:

  • Very proficient with Excel - advanced level.
  • You MUST be familiar with a route planning platform such as Paragon.
  • You will be comfortable with transport/driver type environment.
  • You will have a good understanding of forecasting and working with %margins.
  • You must be able to drive and have your own transport as the location is rural, not accessible by public transport.

Hours: Monday - Friday 8am - 4 pm (hours negotiable)
