We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at an outstanding special needs school in Huyton. The successful candidate will provide one-on-one and small-group teaching assistant support to children with epilepsy, ensuring their safety, well-being, and academic progress.

About the Teaching Assistant role Role

This is a fulfilling Teaching Assistant opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of our students. Your primary responsibility will be to support students with epilepsy, which includes:

  • Monitoring students for signs of seizures and providing appropriate first aid as per their individual care plans.

  • Administering or assisting with medication as required, following strict protocols.

  • Working closely with class teachers and healthcare professionals to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

  • Adapting learning materials to meet the needs of students with epilepsy and other special educational needs (SEN).

  • Building a strong, trusting relationship with students and their families.

Ideal Candidate

You will be a resilient, empathetic, and patient individual with a genuine passion for working with children with complex needs. We are looking for someone with:

  • Experience working with children with epilepsy or other medical conditions.

  • A solid understanding of safeguarding procedures.

  • The ability to remain calm and act decisively in emergency situations.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • A relevant Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
