The Opportunity

This opportunity is with a company with a compelling reputation within the rail industry, specializing in the maintenance and repair of freight wagons nationwide. They are currently seeking a motivated and personable individual to join their team in the role of Finance and Purchasing Controller. Due to their continued growth, this position is crucial for overseeing Davis Wagons' financial operations and procurement activities, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in material acquisition and control.

As the Finance and Purchasing Controller, you will play a pivotal role within the business, overseeing the procurement process to ensure all materials and items are correctly identified, purchased, and controlled. This includes processing the purchase ledger, receipting invoices, raising purchase orders, and managing accounts payable internally. Your role will be crucial in meeting finance deadlines and supporting both the Supply Chain Manager and Finance Manager, contributing as an integral member of a close-knit team.

You would be working closely with the Supply Chain Manager and Finance Manager, which not only supports your role but also provides exposure to various aspects of the supply chain within a large rail company.


Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for the cost-effective procurement of materials, equipment and services thus supporting the company’s commitment to its customers (both internal and external) by meeting financial, production and budget targets.
  • Placement of Purchase Orders with fully evaluated and proven vendors.
  • Control of relevant documentation ensuring that all movements are controlled and are auditable.
  • Receipting all delivery notes and creating a GRN.
  • Cooperating with suppliers to process invoices for payment in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for processing all administration in relation to all company vehicles.
  • To deal with Goods Inwards queries and receipts of purchase orders.
  • Maintenance and control of the Approved Vendor list and Safety Critical Suppliers list.
  • To ensure that the “Purchase Orders Due” report is fully maintained and updated.
  • To ensure that all actions are within the company’s procedures.
  • Ensure all expenditure is recovered.
  • All administrative work relating to company Business to Business Sales.
  • Potential for annual leave / sickness cover for processing of weekly staff payroll.
  • Administrative work relating to company HR processing for new starters and staff leavers.
  • Assist with any other work requirement as directed by your line manager.

The Candidate:

  • Experience with purchase orders
  • Strong admin skills
  • IT literate

Location: Immingham (onsite)

Salary: Up to £25,000

  • Monday to Friday
  • 5 hours per week
