Job Title: Mechanical Fitter (NG Competent Person with MEWP)
Job Summary: As a Mechanical Fitter with NG Competent Person and MEWP qualifications, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical components in National Grid substations. Your role will include working at heights and ensuring all activities comply with safety regulations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment within National Grid substations.
- Operate Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWP) to access equipment at height.
- Ensure compliance with National Grid safety standards and procedures.
- Conduct risk assessments and method statements for mechanical activities.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient workflow and safety on site.
Qualifications:
- Recognised Mechanical Fitting qualification or equivalent experience.
- Valid National Grid Competent Person authorisation.
- Certified MEWP operator with experience in various types of MEWPs.
- Familiarity with National Grid’s operational and safety procedures.
Skills:
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in the use of MEWPs and safety harnesses.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
