Our client is looking for a Freight Forwarder for a permanent position, located in Inverurie, Aberdeenshire.
ROLE
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of logistics, international shipping, and customs regulations. This role involves managing the transportation and logistics process for clients, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of goods.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate and manage international and domestic freight shipments.
- Develop and maintain relationships with carriers, shipping lines, and other logistics partners.
- Prepare and process shipping documentation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, and packing lists.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and customs requirements.
- Track and monitor shipments, providing updates to clients and resolving any issues that arise.
- Negotiate freight rates and contracts with carriers and service providers.
- Collaborate with internal teams, such as sales and customer service, to meet client needs and expectations.
- Provide exceptional customer service, addressing inquiries and resolving any logistical challenges.
- Analyse and optimize logistics processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on shipment activities and performance.
REQUIREMENTS
- Previous experience in freight forwarding or logistics.
- Strong knowledge of international shipping regulations and customs procedures.
- Proficiency in logistics software and systems, such as freight management and tracking tools.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
