Hays are recruiting a Financial Controller to lead the dedicated central finance team within a leading Accountancy firm in Ipswich. Your role will be to ensure delivery of essential financial services during a period of sustained growth for the firm. This full-time role based in Ipswich and can be combined with an element of home-working under the firm's agile working policy, once up to speed in the role.

Our client is one of East Anglia's longest established, most respected, and fastest growing firms of Chartered Accountants. With offices in Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Norfolk. The firm is currently experiencing strong, profitable growth, with the aim to drive further expansion over the next 3 - 5 years, and ambitious plans to increase our turnover. You will be joining us at an exciting time in our ongoing development. Key responsibilities:

  • Management Accounting: Produce timely and accurate management accounts that serve as a trustworthy foundation for financial planning and strategy.
  • Management Reporting: Assist in developing a comprehensive management reporting pack to empower the Partners and Management Board with the data needed to make informed strategic decisions.
  • Audit and Compliance:Manage and streamline the audit process for year-end statutory accounts to ensure compliance and efficiency.
  • Team Leadership and Development:Cultivate a high-performing finance team through effective leadership, training, and development strategies.
  • Systems and Processes Improvement: Continuously assess and enhance finance systems and processes to support scalable, efficient operations. A key part of this will be our time and fees system as well as our Finance system.

The ideal candidate:

You will be a fully qualified Accountant (ICAEW/ACCA/CIMA), with a solid background in finance operations work, either with prior experience in a similar level position or alternatively seeking to step up into a Financial Controller position for the first time. You will have a strong grasp of ICT/ relevant software systems, and a willingness to utilise them to their full potential, coupled with the ability to re-evaluate existing systems/processes with a view to continuous improvement.The package includes;
