Out client are a multi-national leading speciality chemicals company focused on designing and manufacturing additives for various fuels and lubricants, predominantly for use within vehicles to reduce emissions and increase fuel efficiency.

In a key phase of growth, our client are seeking an experienced Process Chemist to join their scale up and tech transfer teams. If you are an experienced organic / organometallic / polymer chemist who has an interest in supporting the scale up to manufacture of additives then this could be the role for you.

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity for experienced process chemists who have recent experience in developing synthetic routes of organic molecules / polymers for R&D to manufacturing process development. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing scalable synthetic routes for additives to take products from R&D to manufacturing. You will take a leading role on some of these projects.
  • Running initial manufacturing / production batches on a large scale.
  • Continuous improvement of manufacturing processes.
  • Applying organic and polymer chemistry knowledge to improve product specifications.
  • Supporting junior chemists and organising their workload.
  • Liaising and managing relationships with external partners.
  • Working in a wider team and also being in regular communication with various other teams including procurement, planning, R&D and quality.

Skills and Experience Needed

The candidate will have the following:

  • BSc, MSc, PhD (or equivalent experience) in a Chemistry / Chemical Engineering related discipline (essential).
  • Must have recent laboratory experience with organic / polymer chemistry (essential).
  • Extensive skills within organic or polymer chemistry, ideally with process development experience (essential).
  • Fresh PhD candidates will be considered, but relevant industry experience in additive process chemistry would be preferred (preferred)
  • The ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously (essential).
  • Prior experience in taking products from R&D to manufacturing (preferred)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (essential).
