Empowering Learning are seeking compassionate and patient Support Workers to work across Primary and Secondary specialist provision schools in the Dudley Area. The type of schools you will work with cater to pupils with special needs and challenging behaviours. As a Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in creating a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for our students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting pupils in the classroom, 1 to 1 or in smaller groups to assist pupils with special needs, learning difficulties and/or challenging behaviours.
  • Work with the class Teacher to ensure pupils are on task, engaged and learning.
  • Ensure an inclusive and safe learning environment that promotes the physical, emotional, and social development of all pupils.
  • Encourage and assist pupils in developing independence and self-confidence.
  • Support pupils during transitions, including arrival, departure, and movement between classes.
  • Manage challenging behaviours, maintain a calm approach to these situations.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with special needs and challenging behaviours is essential.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or a related field are desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and patient in challenging situations.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work across different school settings.
