Head Housekeeper Job - Live Out - Knutsford Cheshire - start ASAP - £40,000 GPA +

A returning client of Greycoat Lumleys is looking for an experienced Head Housekeeper to oversee and manage their household team, ensuring high standards of operation within their spacious 6-bedroom property with leisure suite, set in four acres of grounds. This role is pivotal in maintaining the smooth operation of their home, including the management of housekeeping, gardening, and maintenance staff.

Duties will include:

  • Direct and supervise a team of between 3 and 5 staff members, including a housekeeper, gardener, and maintenance personnel.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation throughout the property.
  • Manage staff schedules, attendance, and leave, including sickness and holidays.
  • Handle personnel and relationship issues within the team effectively.
  • Lead the delivery of the housekeeping tasks, alongside an existing housekeeper (who works 4 days a week) and ensure continuity of standards.
  • Find and oversee the work of any specialist contractors needed to keep the house clean and well functioning.
  • Uphold an informal yet professional atmosphere within the team.
  • Monitor household staff budget and provide visibility to the owners.

Key requirements

  • Proven experience in housekeeping management within a similar residential setting.
  • Strong leadership skills, emotional intelligence and professionalism. Able to lead, manage and inspire a diverse team.
  • Willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Able to take a pragmatic approach to the team’s work when needed. Flexing approach appropriately if the team is under capacity or there are short term increases in workload.
  • Familiarity with technology relevant to home automation and AV, and comfortable coordinating maintenance work via others.
  • Digitally literate, able to use tools such as Google Sheets and Trello for coordinating and recording the team’s activities and monitoring household budgets.
  • Non-smoker and not living with a smoker.
  • Comfortable working with children in the house, including occasional supervision of children during school holidays or when off school due to ill health.
  • Must be able to drive and live within reasonable commuting distance.

Desirable attributes

  • An eye for the details of interior design and front-of-house.
  • Experience of event planning.
  • Comfortable welcoming guests and working alongside external caterers to ensure smooth delivery of occasional social events hosted within the house.

Full-time role normally Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm or 9am to 5pm
