Communications Manager
  • Contract: 6 months
  • Location: Surrey
  • Daily Rate: £450 - £500 (inside IR35)

We are seeking a Communications Manager for a prestigious Central government client based in Surrey. This is an initial 6-month contract with the potential for extension. The role requires 3 days of office-based work per week and the right candidate must be CTC cleared. This is a strategic role that involves working across a wide variety of communications and external engagement projects, providing an opportunity to work closely with senior leaders and all business areas to deliver clear and effective communications.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Design and maintain the strategic communications strategy and delivery plans, monitoring progress and resources.
  • Lead and set the direction and priorities for the Communications Team.
  • Manage key issues and media response lines, ensuring they are accessible and up to date.
  • Create a range of proactive and reactive communication materials using various channels and styles.
  • Lead the development of stakeholder mapping, engagement planning, contacts, and reporting tools.
  • Enhance stakeholder awareness of the organisation, its staff, services, and work.
  • Grow the brand, ensuring consistent messaging across all platforms.
  • Represent the organisation in cross Government's professional communications networks.
  • Take responsibility for gov.uk pages, the Intranet, customer contact services, direct comms bulletins, accessibility, etc.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Confident and positive communicator, able to engage with all levels of an organisation, including senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to quickly comprehend new topics and produce content in a range of styles appropriate to the target audience and delivery channel.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to apply various sets of standards to ensure work is of excellent quality and inclusive.
  • Skilled at setting measurable communication objectives and evaluating outcomes.
