Direct Marketing Manager

Invigorate Recruitment is working with its client near Leeds to recruit a Direct Marketing Manager to be responsible for the planning and execution of their paper marketing activity, developing results-orientated marketing plans as well as maximising the health and understanding of their customer database to help drive the business forwards.

Data and analytics
Working closely with the companies data partner, you are responsible for:
Understanding what is happening with the customer database, to inform strategies for:
oCustomer retention
oCustomer reactivation
oCustomer recruitment
Working alongside the ecomm team to develop a coherent online and offline strategy that minimises budget, whilst maximising customer activation and order frequency.
Reporting on their offline channels weekly
Reporting monthly on both offline activity performance and the health of the database:
oDetailed catalogue and insert analysis
oFile size and movement
oRFM scores
oCustomer profiles (by channel)
Catalogue:
The company has an extensive annual catalogue programme so as the Direct Marketing Manager you will:
Working with their data partner to inform of planning strategy.
Developing a mailing plan for each season aimed at maximising results and file size within agreed allowable contributions.
Managing the paper critical path
Managing the cold list programme, working with various partners.
Working with the data partner to accurately brief the requirements for each drop, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of supply of data to the mailing house
Working with the creative studio to ensure that they are clear about formats, timings and versions.
Working with the printer on paper volumes, versions, and digital proofing
Working with the paper supplier on negotiating paper prices and ensuring timely delivery of paper to printers.
Working with the mailing house to ensure the correctness of the lasering and mailing process.
Working with the postal provider, confirming projected volumes, checking handover reports and minimising costs.
Working with the warehouse and call centre to keep them informed, including when there are land issues that will affect order levels.
Effectively managing samples and seeds.
Managing costs via our budgeting and cost tracking system.
Understanding what is working and what isnt and informing future drops.
Working with the Financial Director and Marketing Director at key budgeting times.

Working with the media partner to develop the plans for the season, learning from previous performances.
Managing budgets to make sure maximising spend
Liaising with printers
Briefing the creative studio on book versions
Managing issues when they occur i.e. deliveries and under-insertions
Managing costs and the invoicing process reconciling COIs
Other programmes
Working with other areas of the marketing team to produce relevant collateral to help drive sales at key customer touch points. i.e. birthday mailings.
Experience & Skills for the Direct Marketing Manager:
You will have a solid understanding of direct marketing processes and analytics, an excellent grasp of customer database methodology and CRM programmes and strong numerical and analytical skills with emphasis on results measurement and response forecasting.
You should be able to fully utilise the relevant IT support systems, and to be conversant with standard business desktop applications, especially Excel and PowerPoint, a good understanding of GDPR and strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with senior managers.
