Geo-Environmental Consultant - Huge Project Exposure

Our client is looking for a Geo-Environmental to Senior Consultant to join their reputable firm. This role presents an exciting chance for an ambitious individual to become part of an established team of 15 professionals. Operating within the companies nationwide network of 90 geo-environmental experts, their northern team specialises in delivering brownfield redevelopment, ground investigation, geotechnical, and geo-environmental consultancy services to diverse private and public sector clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting comprehensive desk-based assessments to evaluate site geology, hydrogeology, historical data, and risk factors, culminating in the development of conceptual and ground models.

  • Designing ground investigations, interpreting data, and preparing reports.

  • Managing ground investigation operations and providing on-site supervision.

  • Generating interpretative reports, strategies, and specifications.

  • Contributing to construction phase activities, including earthworks supervision and data review.

With guidance from team members, this role will also involve assisting in project management across multidisciplinary projects. Responsibilities encompass collaborating with various disciplines, engaging with clients, attending meetings (both virtual and in-person), contributing to contractor procurement, and overseeing project finances.

Their seasoned professionals will provide mentoring and support for progression to professional chartership through their Geological Society accredited Training Scheme. Senior-grade positions will additionally involve mentoring junior staff. They tailor training and development plans to align with individual aspirations, offering personalised support to foster professional growth.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in geology or engineering geology.

  • Hands-on experience managing and supervising ground investigations and laboratory scheduling.

  • Proficiency in geotechnical and geo-environmental assessment and reporting.

  • Familiarity with mining assessments and investigations.

  • Basic understanding of geotechnical design principles, including foundation types and ground improvement techniques.

  • Experience in drafting earthworks specifications and overseeing earthworks operations.

  • Some exposure to crafting remediation strategies.

  • Willingness to travel occasionally for ground investigation or remediation supervision.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, coupled with IT proficiency for producing clear, concise, and technically robust reports.

  • Sound knowledge of health, safety, and environmental protocols in ground investigation, as well as familiarity with CDM regulations related to design.

  • Possession of a full, preferably clean, driving license.

  • Excellent social, interpersonal, and collaborative skills, with a keenness to work closely within a multidisciplinary team environment.
