Accelerate Teaching is thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity for a skilled and passionate Design and Technology (DT) Technician at a vibrant secondary school in Leeds. This role is pivotal in supporting the innovative DT department and helping to inspire the next generation of designers, engineers, and creators.

About the Role

As a DT Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the DT workshops and classrooms. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing materials and equipment for practical lessons.
  • Maintaining tools, machinery, and equipment, ensuring they are in safe working order.
  • Assisting teachers during practical sessions, providing technical support and guidance to students.
  • Managing stock levels and ordering supplies as needed.
  • Ensuring health and safety regulations are followed at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Support: Aid in setting up and dismantling practical sessions, ensuring all equipment is prepared and functional.
  • Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance checks and repairs on DT equipment and machinery.
  • Resource Management: Keep track of inventory, manage stock levels, and handle the ordering of new materials and supplies.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure all activities and equipment use adhere to health and safety standards, conducting risk assessments where necessary.
  • Student Assistance: Support students during practical lessons, helping them to use tools and equipment safely and effectively.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Proven experience as a DT Technician or in a similar technical support role within an educational setting.
  • Strong technical skills and a good understanding of DT tools and machinery.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • A proactive approach and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
