Policy Co- Ordinator

My client are looking for a Policy Coordinator to join the Employment and Skills Team. As part of the Employment and Skills team, this exciting role will contribute to ensuring West Yorkshire is the best place to learn, work, and live by growing the local economy, supporting businesses to thrive, and enabling everyone to access quality support and training to prepare for and make progress in their careers. 

Duties of the Policy Co-Ordinator will include:

  • Coordinating the development of policies and initiatives by developing policy proposals, appraising strategy options and co-ordinating projects and initiatives.   
  • Contribute to the development of policy and strategy through the assessment of challenges and opportunities and providing advice. Identify possible options to delivery policies, critically assess their pros and cons by interrogating research and evidence and make recommendations on the best way forward.  
  • Use project management tools and techniques to provide project co-ordination for policy, strategy and business case development; track progress, highlight slippage and provide advice on overall timescales for the project. 
  • Using data and evidence to design policy and develop interventions to help our residents and employers. We work with a wide range of stakeholders to collaborate on new ideas and programmes, develop options, solve regional problems and lead on new plans and policies for employment and skills.  
  • There are several high priority programmes the post-holder will be involved in, including coordination of activities related to strategic developments in work & health, careers and the future of employment support. 

To be successful in this role as Policy Co-ordinator, you will have:

  • Demonstrable experience of policy and strategy development in social, economic, environmental or transport related fields. 
  • Excellent analytical and data analysis skills.
  • Experience of successfully identifying appropriate communication channels to deliver information.
  • Experience of identifying and assessing solutions to policy or strategy challenges.
  • Very strong project management skills
  • Experience of negotiating with and influencing stakeholders.
  • Experience of writing concise reports, briefing notes and presentations for a variety of audiences. 

This is a full time role, 37 hours per week Monday-Friday. The pay rate is £19.69 per hour PAYE.
