Heritage PS Talent Solutions are working on behalf of our well established and industry leading client in Leeds to recruit for an experienced Buyer / Purchasing Assistant. This is an exciting role that would suit someone with 3+ years' experience within Buyer / Purchasing and / or Accounts, looking to progress their career within a successful group.

Key responsibilities for the Buyer:

  • Responsible for procuring carpets, vinyl, laminate, wood, and other related products.
  • Collaborating with suppliers from the UK, Europe, and worldwide.
  • Ensuring timely procurement of goods at agreed-upon rates, adhering to expected lead times.
  • Monitoring inventory levels and proactively ordering low-stock items to prevent shortages, considering supplier lead times.
  • Forecasting demand for all items, conducting monthly usage reviews, and adjusting forecasts as needed.
  • Maintaining updated records of supplier pricing and lead-time data.
  • Negotiating improved prices and service terms with suppliers, especially those with high usage.
  • Coordinating the collection of goods with shipping partners and overseeing delivery logistics, coordinating with the Warehouse Department for incoming shipments.
  • Collaborating with the accounts team to reconcile delivery notes with invoices, verifying prices and quantities against purchase orders, promptly addressing discrepancies and damages, and reaching resolutions with suppliers.
  • Assisting the warehouse in inventory management and stocktaking activities.
  • Undertaking any additional responsibilities that complement the role.

Key requirements of the Buyer:

  • Demonstrated experience in procurement is required.
  • The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, capable of both independent work and collaboration within a team, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is essential, with the ability to swiftly adapt to other software platforms.
  • Exceptional communication skills, encompassing verbal, written, telephone, and email interactions, are crucial.
