Residential Practitioner Role:

As a residential practitioner based in one of the children's homes, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of these young individuals. Your role involves guiding them toward adulthood and independence. While the work can be challenging, it is also incredibly rewarding. Here are your key responsibilities:

  1. Creating a Safe Environment:

  • You will be responsible for creating a safe, stimulating, and caring environment within the children's home. This includes ensuring their physical safety and emotional well-being.

  1. Building Positive Relationships:

  • Building positive and trusting relationships with children and young people is essential. Your ability to connect with them will contribute significantly to their overall development.

  1. Individualized Care:

  • Being responsive to the individual needs of each child in your care is crucial. Every child is unique, and tailoring your approach to their specific requirements will make a difference.

  1. Nurturing Personal Development:

  • You will play a vital role in nurturing the personal development, education, and wider learning of each child. Encouraging their growth and helping them reach their full potential is at the heart of this role.

Qualifications and Experience Required:

To succeed in this role, you will need the following qualifications and experience:

  1. Level 3 Diploma in Residential Child Care (or equivalent):

  • Having this qualification is essential, or a commitment to achieving it within a reasonable period (with course fees covered).

  1. Experience Supporting Children or Young People:

  • You should have at least 6 months of experience supporting children or young people with additional emotional or behavioral issues. This experience can come from employment, volunteering, student placements, or personal life.

Secure Home Responsibilities:

For the Residential Practitioner in the Secure home, your responsibilities include:

  1. Creating a Stimulating Environment:

  • Contribute to providing a safe and stimulating environment where young people can develop and mature.

  1. Individualized Support:

  • Show awareness of each young person's interests and preferences. Introduce them to various experiences and enable informed choices whenever possible.

  1. Day-to-Day Care:

  • Provide primary care based on each young person's individual needs. This includes meeting occasional needs such as health care appointments.

  1. Personal Care for Complex Needs:
