Position Overview:

This is a unique position where the Senior Category Manager will not have their own category to buy and trade. This is a out and out people manager role.

This is a pivotal role, responsible for leading and managing a team of Category Managers. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving sales, profitability, and strategic growth initiatives across Health & Beauty and FMCG.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Category Managers to achieve individual and team goals, reporting directly to the Senior Category Manager.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to optimise trading performance, drive sales growth, and maximise profitability under the guidance of the Senior Category Manager.
  • Analyze market trends, consumer behavior, and competitive landscape to identify opportunities for product assortment expansion and optimization, collaborating closely with the Senior Trading Manager.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, marketing, supply chain, and finance teams to ensure alignment and execution of trading strategies, with support from the Senior Trading Manager.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and negotiate favourable terms to support business objectives, with oversight from the Senior Category Manager.
  • Monitor and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs), sales metrics, and financial performance to identify areas for improvement and drive continuous optimisation, reporting findings to the Senior Category Manager.
  • Stay abreast of industry developments, emerging trends, and best practices to inform decision-making and drive innovation, with guidance from the Senior Category Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of success in a senior trading or category management role, within the FMCG or Health & Beauty sector.
  • Strong leadership skills with demonstrated experience in managing and developing high-performing teams.
  • Excellent analytical and strategic thinking abilities, with a keen eye for detail and a results-oriented mindset.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt quickly to changing priorities.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
