A global engineering group is currently developing a highly innovate product and has a new vacancy for an NPI Development Engineer. Working in the new product development team and involved in the design of a new complex precision component for use in the aerospace sector, you will provide a hands-on approach to strengthen design and the rapid prototyping of components.

Commutable from: Leicester, Coventry, Nottingham, Derby, Nuneaton, Rugby, Loughborough, Coalville.

Salary: 35,000 - 42,000 p.a. + benefits

Suitable for: Project Engineer, Development Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Production Engineer.

The Role

Practical hands-on approach to design trials, risk reduction, strength of design, inspection, and dimensional control.

Manage availability of customer samples for Technical Readiness reviews and testing.

Support rapid prototyping and design of components.

New product design assessments by mechanical design calculation on small complex parts and assemblies.

Undertake PFMEA, engineering design and manufacturing drawings.

Detail manufacturing readiness of product/series.

Detail product specifications, process specifications and support new process implementation.

Verification of product and assemblies through design testing against qualification test plans.

Create internal qualification test plans for design validation and strength of design trials.

The Person

Degree in mechanical engineering (or equivalent) with strong emphasis on product design.

SolidWorks and CAD experience.

Practical hands-on approach to design trials, DOE and Strength of Design.

Experience and knowledge of design DFMEA, PFMEA, FMEA and 8D, design principles.

Experience of New Product design, Implementation, and product qualification.

Experience of industrialisation and design for manufacture.
