Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Teaching AssistantPosition: SEN Teaching Assistant.Location: Leicester CityContract Type: Full time, Temporary.Rate: £80 - £100 per day.Start Date: ASAP.Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)? Do you have experience working in a SEN school or children with SEN?Hays Education are proud to work in partnership with a leading SEN school in Leicester City Centre who are looking for an experienced teaching assistant to join their growing team.Summary:The SEND Teaching Assistant will provide support to boys and girls aged between 4 and 18 who have social, emotional, and mental health needs, as well as those with Autism, ADHD, and challenging behaviour. The ideal candidate will be patient, empathetic, and dedicated to fostering an inclusive learning environment for all students.Responsibilities:

  • Supporting Learning: Assist in the educational and social development of students under the direction and guidance of the classroom teacher and SEND Coordinator.
  • Individualised Instruction: Implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour management plans.
  • Classroom Management: Help manage student behaviour and maintain a positive and conducive learning environment.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other professionals such as speech and language therapists, social workers, and educational psychologists.
  • Record Keeping: Monitor and record student progress, ensuring any changes or concerns are communicated to the relevant parties.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience working with children with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Knowledge of strategies to support students with Autism, ADHD, and challenging behaviour.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience and resilience.
  • A relevant teaching assistant or childcare qualification would be advantageous.
