WE Talentare hiring for aBookkeeperfor our client in Colchester

The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing various bookkeeping tasks including maintaining accurate financial records and liaising with clients. The Bookkeeper will work closely with our clients team to support the smooth operation of financial processes.

This is a permanent role and we are able to consider this on a full or part-time basis

Responsibilities:

Financial Record Maintenance:

  • Recording of all financial transactions promptly and accurately using Hubdoc and Xero from source data received
  • Manage and maintain accurate financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations
  • Process invoices, receipts and bank statements in a timely manner
  • Liaising with clients accordingly

Trial Balance:

  • Prepare and maintain the trial balance to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records
  • Reconcile accounts and investigate any discrepancies to ensure the trial balance balances

Financial Reporting:

  • Generate financial reports and statements as required, including balance sheets and income statements

Tax Compliance:

  • Assist in preparing tax returns and ensuring compliance with tax regulations
  • Keep abreast of changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure accurate tax filings

Requirements:

  • AAT or other bookkeeping qualification
  • Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar role
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Hubdoc, Xero) and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of VAT / tax regulations and compliance requirements would be beneficial
