Financial Accountant, Hybrid Liverpool

Our client is a well-established and rapidly growing business based in Liverpool. They are seeking a Financial Accountant to join their team in a hybrid role, with three days per week in the office. This position would be an excellent fit for a first or second time mover from an Accountancy Practice. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to join a large established brand that offers some of the best training and development for new employees. Reporting into a talented and supportive Financial Controller, you'll be part of a collaborative and experienced finance team within an impressive brand.

What you'll do:

As a Financial Accountant, your role will be pivotal in supporting the finance team's operations. You will assist with the production of year-end statutory accounts, monitor balance sheets, support the Financial Controller with various tasks, maintain control processes, perform balance sheet reconciliations, monitor compliance, recommend improvements, prepare financial statements, conduct variance analysis, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline financial processes. Your proactive problem-solving skills will be key in identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes.

* Assist with the production of year-end statutory accounts

* Monitor balance sheets ensuring all control account reconciliations are complete, accurate, and systematically dealt with

* Support the Financial Controller with preparation of all external financial and statutory returns

* Maintain and develop strong control processes to ensure data quality, accuracy, and completeness of accounting ledgers

* Perform balance sheet reconciliations and reporting

* Reconcile balance sheet accounts, investigate discrepancies, identify areas for improvement

* Monitor compliance and escalate any issues to Senior managers as appropriate

* Identify and recommend system/process improvements and play an active part in their implementation

* Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

* Conduct variance analysis and provide insights into financial performance

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for this Financial Accountant role is someone who is either a finalist or newly qualified ACCA or ACA. You must have a strong understanding of financial principles and accounting standards, excellent analytical and reporting skills, and a high level of numeracy with attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications is essential. You should have a methodical approach to work, proactive problem-solving skills, and excellent communication skills.

* Excellent analytical and reporting skills

* Highly numerate with excellent attention to detail
