The Role

The Financial Accountant will report to the Financial Accounting Manager and will be responsible for delivering high-quality financial accounting services across the organisation. They will oversee the month-end process, and manage a team of part-qualified accountants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and support a team of part-qualified accountants

  • Deputise for the Financial Accounting Manager as required to ensure continuity of leadership

  • Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies in line with IFRS, and regulatory standards

  • Oversee the month-end process, including journal reviews and financial ledger accuracy

  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of balance sheet reconciliations

  • Review and approve bad debt provisions and support credit control processes

  • Support statutory audits through preparation of year-end working papers and other relevant documentation

  • Act as a subject matter expert and provide guidance on complex financial queries

  • Drive improvements within the financial accounting function through stakeholder feedback and process reviews

The Ideal Candidate

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • A recognised professional accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA)

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge

  • Experience in a finance management role, ideally within financial accounting or reporting

  • Sound understanding of relevant legislation and regulatory requirements

  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities to tight deadlines

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to deliver meaningful financial insights

  • Proven stakeholder management experience, both internal and external
