An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Bridge Engineer to come and join a busy client in the Merseyside area. The role is OUTSIDE IR35 and there is potential for it to be an long term opportunity.

The main duties and responsibilities of the Bridge Engineer are:

  • Conduct regular inspections of local bridges, assessing structural conditions, identifying defects, and recommending maintenance or repair actions.
  • Perform detailed structural analyses using engineering software to assess the load-bearing capacity and integrity of bridges.
  • Develop and review bridge design plans for maintenance, repair, and rehabilitation projects, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and safety regulations.
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of budgets for bridge maintenance and improvement projects.
  • Maintain accurate records of bridge conditions, inspections, and maintenance activities to support asset management and planning efforts.
  • Ensure all bridge-related activities comply with relevant regulations, codes, and safety standards.


Main qualifications and experience needed for the role are:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. Professional engineering certification is required.
  • Proven experience in bridge engineering, including inspections, structural analysis, and design.
  • Strong knowledge of bridge engineering principles, materials, and relevant regulations.
  • Proficiency in using structural engineering software and other relevant engineering tools.
  • Project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Adaptability to work in a dynamic environment and respond to changing bridge maintenance and improvement requirements.
