Service Care Legal are currently working alongside a thriving Local Authority, based in North West, which is in need of an experienced Housing Lawyer /Solicitor to join their team.

Role: Housing Lawyer/Solicitor

Location: Liverpool

Contract Length: 3-6 months ongoing

Rate of Pay: £50-£55ph umbrella

The Role:

This company is seeking a highly skilled Housing Lawyer to provide legal support and advice across the Council on matters relating to housing, legislation and related issues. As a Housing Lawyer, you will be responsible for the delivery of legal advice and support in the following legal specialism.

Key Responsibilities

  • The relevant housing legislation including but not limited to the Housing Act 1985 the Housing Act 1996, the Homelessness Act 2002, the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 and the Domestic Abuse Act 2021, along with both statutory and non-statutory guidance
  • Local authority housing and homelessness strategies, policy and procedure
  • General advice on housing and homelessness duties,
  • General advice to housing services
  • Responding to correspondence received under the pre action protocol for judicial review, and dealing with any subsequent issued proceedings,
  • Homelessness appeals to the County Court,
  • Experience of adult social care duties under relevant adult social care legislation

Qualifications:

  • They are looking for someone with 2-3 years PQE or above in Housing Legislation
  • Ideally with experience working with a local authority in the housing department
  • Someone who has a good understanding and experience with complaints & LGSCO referrals
