Spencer Clarke Group are seeking an experienced and hands-on Statutory Compliance and Safety Manager to provide leadership and expertise in leading the compliance agenda for our Local Authority client in Merseyside. In this role, you will ensure that statutory duties, obligations, official standards, and best practices are met, particularly in relation to Gas Servicing, Legionella, Asbestos, Electrical, and other key mechanical services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the lead representative in matters of statutory compliance, ensuring the organization complies with current health and safety legislation, approved codes of practice, and guidance.
  • Advise the senior management team on the implications of current and emerging health and safety legislation, making recommendations, and generating action plans to ensure compliance.
  • Conduct audits and inspections across the portfolio to ensure compliance with council policies, procedures, and legislation, and support the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Provide guidance to colleagues on matters relating to statutory compliance and health and safety.
  • Undertake reviews of health and safety documentation, such as risk assessments, as required.
  • Deal with health and safety inquiries from internal and external sources, advising on effective solutions.
  • Support the gathering of information to develop annual revenue and capital budgets for assets across the estate.
  • Provide leadership support for the assets compliance team, managing and monitoring their workload and performance on a day-to-day basis.

Qualifications/Experience

  • Essential: Nebosh Diploma
  • Relevant professional qualifications in health and safety management or equivalent experience.
  • Previous experience working for a Local Authority in a similar role
