Risk and Compliance Officer | £36,000 - £38,113 | Liverpool | Public Sector | Hybrid

Castlefield are looking for a proactive, detail-oriented Risk and Compliance Officer to join a dynamic and supportive Risk and Assurance team within a public sector organisation.

Roles and Responsibilities

As a Risk and Compliance Officer, you will:

  • Support the delivery of the Risk and Assurance programme by embedding a risk-aware culture across the organisation.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of a robust control and compliance framework.
  • Provide 2nd line assurance to ensure risks are effectively identified, managed, and mitigated.
  • Work cross-functionally to identify improvement opportunities and ensure alignment with legal, regulatory, and policy requirements.
  • Support the Data Protection Officer with the management and administration of data protection and UK GDPR compliance processes.
  • Assist in the delivery of training and guidance to promote compliance awareness and best practice.
  • Monitor and report on risk trends, issues, and the effectiveness of internal controls.

Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • NVQ Level 4 qualification or equivalent experience.
  • A background in risk management, data protection, or policy and compliance.
  • Strong working knowledge of data protection legislation (Data Protection Act 2018 and UK GDPR).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and confidently across all levels of the organisation.
  • A collaborative mindset with a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
