Are you passionate about supporting students with additional learning needs?

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a vibrant and successful mainstream school in Conwy who values every individual, providing students with a stimulating and well-managed environment. This is a welcoming school with a friendly and supportive network of educational professionals.

Our client requires a full-time teaching assistant to work with students on a one-to-one basis with additional learning needs. You will be working in smaller class sizes within an additional learning unit based on site. It is essential applicant have experience in either ADHD, Autism, attachment disorders, low-level ability, emotional needs, mental health, anxiety, dyslexia or dyspraxia. Applicants should also be competent in GCSE Maths and English so they can support students at GCSE level. You will also be required to manage any challenging behaviors and work closely with other school professionals, recording and reporting to the SENCO and class teacher.

Hours of work between Monday to Friday 8:30am-3:30pm. Pays a min of £76-£84 per day. This role is to start asap, with a view to continuing in September 2024 for the right candidate.

To be considered for this role you will need:

  • Experience working with children or young people ideally up to Key stage 4
  • Experience of supporting children or young people with ALN
  • Understanding of social and communication difficulties
  • Be supportive, patient, sensitive.
  • Have resilience in managing challenging situations.
  • Ability to use de-escalation techniques if required.
  • Ideally have GCSE Maths and English to level C or above

Additional requirements:

  • Eligibility to work in the UK and reside in the UK.
  • References confirming suitability for role
  • Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or willing to apply
  • EWC registration or willing to apply
  • Safeguarding training or willing to take a free course with us
