About the role

Reporting to the Financial Controller (UK) as the Financial Reporting Accountant your main role will be working within the Finance team to take responsibility of the following key functions.

Key responsibilities

As a Financial Reporting Accountant, you will be responsible for:

  • Coordination and management of the quarterly and annual external audits of the Group companies, being the point of contact and responsible for issue resolution during that time.
  • Preparing the interim and year-end financial reporting timetables, monitoring progress and driving action to deliver against key milestones and ultimately completion of the annual report and accounts.
  • Preparation and review of working and technical accounting papers for external auditors.
  • Assistance in the production of the Group’s strategic reports.
  • Ownership of accounting processes and related accounts disclosures, for example goodwill, going concern and related parties.
  • On an ad-hoc basis, taking the lead on technical reporting issues, assessing the impact of new accounting requirements.
  • Offering significant contribution in production of ICARA and wind-down plan.
  • Ownership of RegData reporting.
  • Maintaining a detailed and up to date knowledge of all matters related to UK GAAP and IFRS and other relevant regulatory accounting requirements.
  • Carrying out investigations and such other duties as may be required including ad hoc project work.
  • Supporting the finance team in month end closing and financial analysis.
  • Driving continuous improvement and automation by designing and implementing new processes as well as internal controls to incorporate evolving business needs and reporting requirements.

This role is predominantly office based with the ability to work from home 1 day per week based on business needs.

Essential experience & skills

  • ACCA or equivalent accounting qualification.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience in producing statutory accounts (entity or consolidated) is required with both UK GAAP and IFRS experience preferred.
  • Understanding of regulatory reporting or of tax computations would be preferred.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in a financial reporting environment, either within the accountancy profession or in industry. Financial services experience will be advantageous.
  • Strong organisational skills, including ability to prioritise own workload under pressure to tight deadlines; resilient and able to work on multiple deliverables simultaneously.
  • Excellent analytical skills and very high level of attention to detail.
