Cedar have partnered with a growing transport business in West London, who are seeking an ambitious Assistant Accountant who is actively pursuing their professional finance qualifications (ACCA/CIMA) to join their impressive team.

The successful candidate will be part of a small team reporting to the Group Finance Manager and will play a pivotal role in the deadline-driven month-end process. Key responsibilities will include P&L and BS reconciliation, journal postings, intercompany transactions, payroll reviews, and ad hoc analysis.

Duties:

  • Efficient, accurate, and timely accounting of financial transactions, including the production of routine month-end reports.
  • Preparation of journals, validating regular monthly journals and handling ad hoc manual journals as necessary.
  • Responsible for key balance sheet reconciliations such as revenue, fixed assets, utilities, leases, claims, etc.
  • Collaborating with team members to optimise transaction processes for each company's needs.
  • Cross-training within the financial accounting team to ensure flexibility and comprehensive support for all reconciliations.
  • Communication with stakeholders across the business to ensure transactional clarity and alignment.
  • Conducting ad hoc reporting and analysis to support decision-making processes.

Person specification

  • Part qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with ambition to complete qualifications and advance career in industry.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including basic lookup formulas and Pivot Tables.
  • Strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to thrive in a small team setting.
  • Excellent presentation skills, adept at effective communication with finance and non-finance colleagues.
