Location: Leyton, East London

Shifts: Early and Late Shifts, with occasional flexibility required

About Us: We are a vibrant primary school located in the heart of Leyton, East London, committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and inspiring learning environment for our students. As part of our dedication to maintaining the school premises, we are seeking a reliable and proactive Assistant Caretaker to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and sanitising surfaces to ensure a clean and hygienic environment for students, staff, and visitors.
  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of school facilities, including minor plumbing, electrical, and building repairs.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the premises to identify and address any safety hazards or maintenance issues promptly.
  • Unlock and secure the school premises at the beginning and end of each day, ensuring all doors, windows, and gates are properly secured.
  • Assist with setting up and dismantling equipment for school events, meetings, and activities as required.
  • Monitor and maintain stock levels of cleaning supplies and equipment, reporting any shortages or maintenance needs to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Collaborate with the caretaking team to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and effectively, providing support and assistance as needed.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Previous experience in a caretaking or facilities maintenance role preferred.
  • Knowledge of cleaning techniques, equipment, and materials.
  • Basic understanding of maintenance tasks such as plumbing, electrical, and building repairs.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with students, staff, and visitors.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
  • Physical fitness and stamina to perform cleaning and maintenance tasks, including lifting and moving heavy objects.
  • Flexible availability to work early and late shifts as required, with occasional weekend availability for special events.
