The School Business Manager is responsible for managing the strategy and operation of the business functions of the schools, particularly financial management. The School Business Manager will advise on and implement the day-to-day support that enables the schools to operate effectively and efficiently, and that allows other members of the leadership team to focus on teaching and learning.

School Business Manager summary:

  • School Business Manager salary is £40k-£45k.
  • Act as the school’s leading support staff professional and work as part of the Senior Leadership Team to assist the Headteacher in their duty to ensure that the school meets its educational aims.
  • To take responsibility for providing professional leadership and management of school support staff in partnership with teaching staff, to enhance their effectiveness in order to achieve improved standards of learning and achievement in the school, through support to the Headteacher and colleagues.
  • To promotes the highest standards of business ethos within the administrative function of the school and strategically ensures the most effective use of resources in support of the school’s learning objectives.
School Business Manager requirements:

  • Degree level qualification & School Business Manager qualification/Accountancy qualification.
  • Experience in financial management and reporting including budget and management accounts preparation.
  • Strong understanding of effective accounting systems and controls.
  • Able to influence decision making within the school.
