London Fire Brigade, one of our largest public sector clients based in London are looking to recruit two Facilities Officers to join their team on a 6-month contract (with possibilities of further extensions if all goes well). The role is full time, Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week.

Job Purpose:

Reporting to the FM Manager, overseeing the commercial relationship for the Property Group’s key suppliers to ensure the contract requirements are met and the fire stations are adequately maintained to support operational response. The hiring manager is looking for 1 FM Officer with Mechanical and Electrical bias and the other FM Officer to have Fabric Maintenance bias.

Key responsibilities:

  • Play a key role in the communication and planning of maintenance programmes within the area. Be responsible for ensuring the wider LFB community are aware of and engaged in decision making around matters relating to facilities management.
  • Undertake a regular programme of site audits ensuring that both contractual targets and customer satisfaction are measured on both a planned and adhoc basis ensuring that all services are delivered as required and that ongoing innovation and improvement is deployed as available.
  • Establish a robust communications plan in relation to the contracts for all customers and relevant stakeholders. Ensure information is shared in an effective way and training and advice is provided as required.
  • Support the delivery of all Hard and Soft Facilities Management services across a region in the LFB estate. Delivered to the appropriate contractual standards and assuring and maintaining the quality and compliance across the contracted services. The services will include but are not limited to repairs and maintenance, cleaning and waste.
  • The post holder will also support the property team to ensure that the property and FM services are statutorily compliant through proper inspection, maintenance and servicing.
  • Support the delivery of the statutory, regulatory and organisational compliance in region reporting to both the Estates Directorate and Stations. Maintaining a safe and fit for purpose estate, ensuring compliance of the built environment and controlling property related health and safety and fire safety.
  • Ensure the local delivery of Facilities Management maintenance programmes; cost management and Service Provider performance across all regions, effectively delegating day-to-day responsibility for these to Contract Managers.
  • Ensure there regional LFB Estates Fire, Health & Safety estate are fully compliant with regulatory specifications and that the LFB fulfils its mandatory requirements within these areas.
  • To undertake required building improvements, refurbishments, planned, cyclical and responsive maintenance works including day to day works undertaken. To issue appropriate written notices and instructions. 
  • To monitor the progress of projects and the performance of contractors operations, including compliance with specifications and method statements.  Take appropriate steps to arrange the rectification of any non compliances including defects.
