Communications Manager
- Contract Duration: Minimum estimated 4 months
- Location: Westminster, London (Blended working with remote opportunities)
- Work Pattern: Full-time, 36 hours per week between the hours of 8am to 7pm, flexibility is required.
- Day rate: £349,PAYE, £450, Umbrella
- Vetting Level: Counter Terrorism Clearance (CTC) will be sought if successful, this can take between 3-6 months.
We are seeking a Communications Manager to play a pivotal role in the success of the Metropolitan Police Service by delivering exceptional external communications. This role is integral to our mission of keeping the public safe and requires a professional who can manage both proactive and reactive media strategies in a fast-paced environment.
Day to Day of the Role:
- Deliver external communications supporting the priorities set out in the ‘A New Met for London’ plan.
- Be part of a team providing a 24/7 service, handling media inquiries, and engaging across digital channels.
- Support spontaneous and planned events with communication strategies.
- Provide rapid response service to the MPS, delivering response and rebuttal across digital channels.
- Develop and implement media strategies, managing communications for high-profile issues.
- Work at pace under deadline pressure, ensuring consistent messaging and effective communication.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven track record in a busy media operation with the ability to handle multiple reactive demands.
- Strong understanding of media and channel monitoring, including digital tools.
- Experience in delivering high-quality, fast-time rebuttal on digital channels.
- Strong coordination skills and experience in liaising with operational colleagues in a large organisation.
- Experience in leading proactive media planning and creative media campaigns.
- Practical understanding of using data and insight to drive communications.
- Experience in providing advice to senior figures on complex issues.
- Ability to produce clear and effective communication materials from complex information.
- Experience in shaping and delivering digital content across a range of channels.
