We are a preschool for two-to-four-year-olds that combines exceptional early years education with full-time care on site, looking to appoint an empathetic and conscientious Early Years Teaching Assistant to our growing team.

You will play a vital role in supporting our Early Years Teacher in providing exceptional care and education for a small group of children.

Key Responsibilities

  • To support the early years teacher in providing high quality care and early years education for a small group of children.
  • To support children’s personal, social and emotional development.
  • To support the early years teacher in ensuring that a positive, responsive, predictable and safe environment is maintained consistently for the assigned group of children.
  • To support the early years teacher in assessing the assigned group of children in line with the preschool’s approach to assessment.
  • To fulfil statutory duties with regard to the latest version of the Early Years Foundation Stage, SEND Code of Practice (2015) and Equality Act (2010)
  • To engage with the professional development opportunities provided.
  • To work closely with the early years’ teacher with regard to planning, teaching and assessment.
  • To complete all aspects of the induction training.
  • To participate in the appraisal and performance management process that is both supportive and holds colleagues accountable, as well as being aligned to the core aim of improving teaching quality and child development.
  • To understand that safeguarding is the first priority of every colleague in the nursery.

The Person

  • At least a grade 4 or grade C in English and Maths GCSE (or equivalents)
  • Experience of working with children under-5.
  • Has a positive attitude.
  • Holds themselves to exceptionally high standards.
  • Is thoughtful and pays attention to details that matter to children, their parents / carers and their staff.
  • Is driven by a genuine belief in the importance of early education for all.
  • Values communication and understanding Shows grace under pressure Has a commitment to working flexibly and collaboratively.
