Would you like to be there at the beginning of this new and exciting employability start up, levelling the field for people with autism or a learning disability and most especially for those with more complex needs? This is all about working in a person centred way to support the people using this service to be included in the workforce in a way that they can contribute meaningfully to it. It is the quality of the work and not the quantity of jobs secured that matters. Only 4.8% of people with a learning disability /and autism secure employment. Whilst there are a lot of initiatives out there, this new enterprise is different as it is driven by the desire to do the right thing rather than work in a way that is constrained by funding and it focuses particularly on those people who are either over 25years of age and/or who have more complex needs. The tasks required to fulfil this unique, entrepreneurial Employment Consultant role includes:
  •  Acting as the first point of contact for clients referred to the service to understand their skills and motivations.

But pending on where referrals and employers come from, you will need to be flexible. This is a great opportunity to be a part of an employability start up early on to help shape how the organisation develops and how they make a difference. You might have previously worked as a Job Coach, Careers Advisor, Supported Internship Tutor / Coach Please apply via this advert – will aim to respond to everyone (if by chance you have not had a response, please either call the office and ask for James, or fill out the Contact Us form on the Red 5 People website and we won’t be long getting back in touch). Please note, we are supporting the charity with 2 hires.  The salary range can be between £27k - £35k depending upon experience. Towards the top end would have extensive employability experience specifically working with LD / Autism clients with lots of experience working with employers closely.  The starting point would be people with strong LD / Autism experience, but perhaps not having the employability experience and looking to develop this.
