Lloyd’s are seeking to recruit a Lead Finance Manager ensuring the Operations function operates smoothly. You will be responsible for making sure budgets are well managed and deliver on target, that costs are optimised across budgets and by process improvements. The individual will be expected to challenge the Operations leadership team in their requirements and provide leadership across the wider Operations function.

Principal Accountabilities required of the Lead Finance Manager

  • Always acts as an ambassador of the Lloyd’s values and a champion of change
  • Lead the delivery and ongoing development of financial planning and reporting for Operations including delivery of the financial plan, efficient monthly reporting and rolling forecasting
  • Responsible for the development and delivery of a plan for sustainable cost containment/ reduction in line with Exco Strategy
  • Working with the Senior Leadership team, lead the ongoing development and delivery of the Operations scorecard, supporting the management of broader metrics across Operations. Track and report key actions for the Chief Operations Officer
  • Develop the resourcing strategy and manage the provision of flex resources across Operations in conjunction with procurement. Support the Senior Leadership team with overall resource management, both short and longer term, with the appropriate mix for the Corporation and within the boundary of plan
  • Act as ambassador for finance, supporting the business in understanding the cost base, drivers of cost and opportunities for improvement. Work with the business to support self-service, responsible for improvements in efficiency, value add for the Corporation and ensure compliance with the Delegated Authorities Framework. Provide critical review and independent assessment on finance proposals
  • Ensure effective financial management and control for key strategic programmes and provide finance support for new initiatives
  • Lead the finance team in Operations, creating a positive work environment and culture that promotes employee engagement, satisfaction and productivity
  • Supports the Office of the COO with ‘Special Projects’ as required

Skills and Knowledge required of the Lead Finance Manager

  • Qualified accountant / qualified by experience
  • Ability to operate strategically as well as Operationally (needs to be hands on at times
  • Used to operating at a Senior level – Ability to exhibit diplomacy, sound judgement and discretion
  • Effective influencing skills with ability to find compromise when required
  • Effective organisational skills, high attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Confidence to make informed judgment calls and challenge the status quo when appropriate
  • Evidence of operating in a complex environment and regulated market environment with multiple stakeholders
  • Reporting to Board level and supporting Board level Executives
  • Working collaboratively across multi-party teams and stakeholders to deliver high quality outputs
  • A creative thinker, able to deal with complex problems and develop innovative solutions
