Interim Director - Health and Safety

London

Rate: circa 1000 per day (inside IR35)

Irwin and Colton are delighted to be partnering exclusively with a leading research and development organisation to find an Interim Health and Safety Director.

This exciting opportunity will lead and manage the operational Health and safety team, alongside developing strategy and overseeing the implementation of new transformation projects across the organisation.

The role is a true leadership position which will report to the Executive level and Board. The organisation is diverse and complex, including a variety of different environments, and health and safety is a top priority.

Responsibilities of the Interim Health and Safety Director will include:

  • Provide expert guidance and leadership to the Board of Directors, and engage with all staff across the organisation on health and safety issues
  • Ensure a positive health and safety culture across the business, ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Leading the development and delivery of a best practice health and safety function, identifying opportunities to enhance the effectiveness of the team and operations
  • Lead and manage a team of technical professionals operating across various specialisms, supporting them to promote a culture of best practice
  • Ensure all organisational activities are properly risk assessed and oversee a regular audit programme to evaluate performance

The successful Interim Health and Safety Director will have:

  • Proven experience in a similar leadership role in health and safety, from a related industry sector (eg. University, Pharma, Chemicals, Research and Development)
  • Relevant professional qualifications (ie. CMIOSH)
  • Experience in strategy development and project management
  • Ability to communicate with a range of senior stakeholders
