To work in London boroughs or Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire areas, delivering Child, Adolecent to Parent Violence and Abuse (CAPVA)


With the main objectives of reducing re-offending and helping to protect the public, the RISE practitioner will deliver a range of interventions (individual and group work to children and young people and parents), that RISE may design, commission or be commissioned to deliver in the future, both in the community and in custody.


Specialist Child to Parent Violence and Abuse delivery:
ā€¢Advocate for the rights of children to be respected, heard and protected.
ā€¢Deliver sessions for children, young people and parents using Non Violent Resistance (NVR) techniques, applying a systematic family approach to managing violence in the home.
ā€¢Adhere to the relevant programme manuals for parents as well as for the children and young people.
ā€¢Use motivational interviewing techniques and strength based approaches to engage with families.
ā€¢Support parents and young people to learn skills and knowledge to deal with behaviour in a non-violent way, using NVR and CBT methods.
Work closely with other statutory and voluntary professionals to ensure appropriate steps are taken to protect where there is an imminent risk to another person. Apply RISEā€™s escalation procedures.
ā€¢Be responsible and accountable for working with Team leader and/or Service Manager and Advanced practitioner to ensure risk is reviewed on a weekly basis.
ā€¢Attend monthly risk review meetings with Team leader or Advanced practitioner to ensure effective risk management procedures are applied at all times.
ā€¢Be personally accountable for the completion of assessments, reports, and End of Intervention reports, and ensure they are to a high standard.
ā€¢Provide support and consultancy to other professionals to ensure appropriateness of referrals and improve understanding on NVR and CBT techniques and working with families (parents and children and young people.
ā€¢Ensure effective planning for the delivery of each intervention in advance of the session.
ā€¢Partake and pass all relevant NVR and other child, young people and parent centred training to undertake this specialist work.
ā€¢Deliver community training as required.

Recording and administrative tasks:
ā€¢Ensure timely and accurate recording of all relevant data (attendance, feedback, mid-way and end of intervention reports) using systems provided and in line with performance standards.
ā€¢Maintain an accurate audit trail of all relevant communication with partner organisations involved.
ā€¢Ensure completion of pre and post questionnaires in line with RISEā€™s Social Impact strategy.
ā€¢Contribute to the evaluation and evidencing of social impact, including questionnaires and service user case studies.

General tasks:
ā€¢Develop excellent relationships with customers and respond positively to their needs.
ā€¢Be a strong advocate for RISE interventions, representing RISE and its interventions at key stakeholder events.
ā€¢Attend Clinical Consultancy and Practice meetings to support safe practice and develop resilience during the delivery of demanding work as directed by the Senior Practitioner.


RISE is committed to keeping children, young people and vulnerable adults safe. Post holders with direct service user contact are responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults s/he is responsible for or comes into contact with. Post holders not in direct offender contact have a general responsibility for safeguarding children, young people and vulnerable adults in the course of their daily duties and for ensuring that they are aware of the specific duties relating to their role.
