We are seeking a passionate Head Barista, for a natural wine bar in Islington is seeking to lead its coffee program in a distinct shop with its own entrance and hours. The role is centered around pour-over coffee, requiring experience in this specialty. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Coffee Program Management: Curate the coffee program, including bean selection, menu design, and brewing methods.
  • Coffee Preparation and Service: Prepare and serve high-quality coffee using various brewing techniques, with a focus on pour-over. Train team members in espresso extraction, milk steaming, and flavour profiling.
  • Sustainability Practices: Prioritise waste reduction, responsible sourcing, and environmental friendliness. Source beans from reputable suppliers who emphasise fair trade and sustainability.
  • Team Training: Conduct workshops and training sessions on coffee knowledge and techniques. Mentor baristas to enhance their skills.
  • Equipment and Inventory Management: Maintain equipment and cleanliness, monitor inventory, and collaborate on sourcing new technology.

Requirements:

  • Strong experience as a barista with a specialty in pour-over coffee.
  • Knowledge of coffee beans, brewing techniques, and espresso machine operations.
  • Ability to develop and lead a coffee program from inception.
  • Passion for sustainability and responsible sourcing.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of inventory management and cost control.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
