Sustainability Lead

I'm representing a very well respected independently owned multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy known for their forward-thinking approach to building projects and office culture.

Founded nearly ten years ago, they have grown to be one of the best small independently multi-disciplinary engineering consultancies in the industry, known for their excellent staff retention. As their Sustainability Lead, you'll play a pivotal role in establishing, growing and leading their Energy and Sustainability division. From conceptual strategies to post-project assessments, you'll champion innovation, ensuring their projects embrace sustainable design principles.

You'll be the face of Sustainability for the business and have the opportunity to build and develop a team. The long-term opportunity for you is fast track to Director and running your own P&L with a bonus associated to profit.

Job Role

Leadership:

  • Provide strategic leadership in sustainability, building physics and energy modelling, driving innovation and pushing the boundaries of sustainable design.
  • Develop and implement best practices in sustainability, building physics, energy modelling, and sustainability within the organisation.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes to ensure that the firm remains at the forefront of sustainable design.
  • Collaborate with the existing leadership team to secure projects.

Project Delivery:

  • Lead and manage the sustainability, building physics and energy modelling, maintaining high-quality.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, architects, and clients to integrate building physics and energy modelling into the design process.
  • Review simulations analysis
  • Co-author and/or review reports
  • Provide expert guidance to clients and project teams.

Team Leadership:

  • Manage sub consultancy delivery of building energy and assessment models and associated reports
  • Building, develop, lead and mentor a team of building physics and energy modelling experts, fostering their professional growth and development.
  • Establish and maintain a culture of excellence within the team.
  • Recruit to attract a well-balanced and industry leading team

Client Engagement:

  • Be the trusted advisor to clients.
  • Provide technical expertise and strategic guidance on sustainability and energy performance.
  • Identify and build opportunities for and develop new business
  • Develop strong client relationships and maintain a high level of client satisfaction.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in engineering, physics, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in sustainability, building physics and energy modelling, within the building services industry.
  • Proven track record of successful project delivery, including experience with high-performance and sustainable design.
  • Comprehensive understanding of modelling and simulation tools (IES-VE, TAS etc.)
  • Detailed experience in developing energy models, energy strategies, energy in use, passive design assessments, energy strategies for planning, net zero carbon assessments, decarbonisation solutions, whole life carbon assessments circular economy assessments, overeating assessments, comfort analysis.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Relevant certifications, CEng, LEED, AP, CEM
