Python, Django Technical Lead - remote working with 1 day per week in London on client site - £70k-£85k

We are a seeking a Python, Django Technical Lead for a 75% hands off role, coaching and mentoring a team and deciding the technical direction of projects.

Leading a team who are delivering high-quality applications that meet the complex needs of their largely Private Sector based clients.

Job Description:

As a Technical Lead, you will play a vital role in leading and mentoring a team of 5-6 developers. You will be responsible for setting best practices, conducting code reviews, and ensuring the successful delivery of internal and client-facing applications. While the role is primarily hands-off (75%), you will also be expected to contribute to the development process as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of 5-6 developers, providing guidance and support
  • Set coding standards and best practices for the team
  • Conduct thorough code reviews to ensure quality and adherence to standards
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements and deliverables
  • Develop and maintain scalable Python and Django applications
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements, and apply them to enhance our development processes
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand project requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Ensure the team follows Test-Driven Development (TDD) practices
  • Implement Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
  • Provide technical guidance and expertise to the team members
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, ensuring timely delivery of projects

Requirements:

  • Extensive hands-on experience in Python and Django full-stack development
  • Strong familiarity with Cloud technologies, preferably AWS
  • Proven experience in leading and coaching a development team
  • Knowledge of Test-Driven Development (TDD) principles and ability to implement them effectively
  • Experience with building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
  • Understanding of software development best practices and methodologies
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Eligible for security clearance as you will be working extensively for public sector clients
  • UK residency is mandatory
  • Flexibility to work remotely with 1 day per month in London
