The Head of People & Operations will lead HR and administration, supporting recruitment, contracts, staff welfare, and training. They will co-develop a People Strategy aligned with the organisational plan, promote a positive, values-led culture, and ensure up-to-date HR policies. The role oversees staff development, performance management, and equality, diversity, and inclusion initiatives.

They will ensure best practice across staff and volunteer recruitment, onboarding, retention, and learning & development. The role also supervises internal communications, marketing, website content, and social media strategy.

Working with the Central Services & Operations Manager, the post-holder will oversee IT systems, supplier contracts, cyber security, and data protection compliance (including GDPR). They will support risk assessments, facilities, estates management, and health & safety across all sites.

As part of the Senior Leadership Team, the role contributes to strategic direction, cross-team alignment, and upholding organisational values. Occasional out-of-hours work may be required. Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and a strengths-based approach to autism is essential.

Person Specification 

Essential:

  • 5+ years senior HR and management experience with relevant qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of HR, GDPR, and Health & Safety regulations
  • Proven ability to build and maintain a positive organisational culture
  • Strong leadership, communication, time management, and project delivery skills
  • High IT proficiency, including database and CRM systems

Desirable:

  • Experience managing supplier contracts
  • All Staff Should Have:
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and confidentiality standards
  • Proficiency in Office 365
  • Compassionate, self-motivated, and inclusive approach
