HR Adviser

Position: HR Advisor - Part time (21 hours per week)

Salary:27,048

The HR Adviser provides professional advice and guidance to line managers and employees on a range of HR matters including employee relations, staff development, organisational design and workforce planning. The aim is to maximise employee effectiveness in delivering the organisation's objectives, in alignment with Charity's overall mission and values.



Main Responsibilities

You will:

  • Provide timely and practical advice to managers on employee relations matters such as performance management, sickness absence, and capability, identifying risks and proposing effective solutions.

  • Support workforce planning initiatives by advising on recruitment, talent development, and retention strategies to meet organisational goals.

  • Guide managers in the design and structuring of teams to improve operational effectiveness.

  • Produce and interpret key HR metrics and analysis to aid informed decision-making.

  • Collaborate with colleagues in HR Systems, Recruitment, Payroll, and Reward to deliver cohesive and efficient HR solutions.

  • Support the roll-out and embedding of HR policies and practices through coaching, training sessions, toolkits, and written materials.

  • Lead or contribute to HR projects aimed at improving functional performance and service delivery.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of employment legislation and best practices relevant to HR.

  • Act as deputy to the HR Business Partner during periods of absence and undertake other responsibilities as required to support the HR function.



Person Specification

You have:

  • Proven experience in a generalist HR role, providing sound advice and guidance to managers in a fast-paced environment.

  • Associate CIPD membership and up-to-date understanding of UK employment legislation.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships at all organisational levels, including with senior leaders.

  • A proactive approach to managing a busy workload, working under pressure and meeting deadlines with minimal supervision.

  • Strong IT skills including intermediate knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), HR systems, and email.

  • Willingness and ability to travel to various sites within the region, with occasional overnight stays.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in the not-for-profit, social, or community sectors.

  • Knowledge of HR software systems, ideally Midland HR iTrent.

  • A relevant degree (e.g. Human Resource Management, Business Studies).
