Job Responsibilities

You will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing new technologies. Working closely with the legal teams you will be responsible for requirement gathering and identifying opportunities and new technology to improve efficiencies and profitability.

This role is central to our goal of first-class business technology support and is particularly important as the firm has recently embarked on a strategic programme to improve working practices across the firm, supported by technology.

  • Analyse existing legal processes, workflows, and systems to identify opportunities for improvement and optimization through technology solutions.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager and technical teams to design and develop IT solutions tailored to the specific requirements of legal practice areas and administrative functions.
  • Support the implementation of new software applications, upgrades, and enhancements, ensuring smooth integration with existing systems and minimal disruption to operations.
  • Develop test plans, conduct user acceptance testing (UAT), and ensure that IT solutions meet functional and performance requirements, as well as regulatory compliance standards.
  • Provide training and support to legal professionals and support staff on the use of IT systems and applications, and develop user guides and documentation as needed.
  • Facilitate change management activities to promote user adoption of new technologies, address resistance to change, and maximize the benefits of IT investments.
  • Evaluate how emerging technologies can benefit the legal practice and make recommendations for their adoption.
  • Ensure that all technology projects adhere to legal industry regulations and data protection laws, particularly in areas of client confidentiality and data security.

Skills Required

  • Experience with project management methodologies (eg, Agile, Waterfall).
  • Proficiency in requirements elicitation, process mapping, and solution design methodologies.
  • Stakeholder Management: Ability to effectively communicate with lawyers, legal staff, and IT teams to understand their needs and expectations.
  • Proficiency in creating and maintaining project documentation, including project plans, status reports, and project charters.
  • Knowledge of legal software solutions commonly used in law firms, including document management, case management, and billing software.
  • Knowledge of data security and privacy concerns, especially concerning client confidentiality and legal data.
