Allen Lane is delighted to be supporting the London Borough of Ealing in their search for an Infrastructure Engineer on a permanent basis. This role is key to the development, configuration, customisation, management and support of the Council’s network and infrastructure. You’ll be working closely with key infrastructure vendors & partners, and all service areas to ensure systems meet the strategic needs of the Council. This is a hybrid role with a minimum of 2 days per week required on-site.
As an Infrastructure Engineer you will:
- Be the point of escalation and SME for any detailed Network and Infrastructure Analysis.
- Manage any high-severity infrastructure incidents.
- Create, assess and provide expert advice on Ealing-led and vendor-provided designs from an infrastructure & network perspective.
- Ensure change requests are raised for both BAU and project work with Infrastructure partners including the end to end management of changes
- Communicate effectively with council stakeholders on all network & infrastructure issues.
- Ensure all Infrastructure services are provided at a high level, regularly reviewing and auditing key partners and vendors
- Represent the council at supplier meetings.
- Ensure that NCSC and infosec guidance is considered as part of any design or changes to the council Infrastructure.
- Manage 3rd parties relating to IP Addressing, VLAN Management & Circuit Resilience
As an Infrastructure Engineer you will have:
- Detailed knowledge of network troubleshooting and investigation tools
- Significant experience of IP protocols including SMTP, FTP, TCP/IP and Network Routing
- Expert knowledge of IT Infrastructure - Networks, servers, datacenters, cloud etc.
- Strong understanding of best practices and frameworks including ITIL
- Detailed knowledge of VPN solutions and management.
- A CCNP certification or demonstrable experience in the planning, verification and implementation of local and wide area enterprise networks
- Significant experience of firewall implementation and administration
- The ability to develop IT systems and deliver process improvements in line with performance targets.
