Our client is a major UK headquartered global law firm, with an established and longstanding reputation in all the markets in which it operates.

The firm's London Structured Finance and Derivatives team forms part of their international Structured Finance practice, which has a strong and well-established client base of financial institutions, including leading investment banks, insurance companies, asset and investment managers, trustees and pension schemes.

The team is now looking for an ambitious Associate, who will work closely with Partners and be comfortable facing clients. The wider firm offers clients advice on a variety of issues, and Associates in the team are expected to be able to take responsibility for matters.

A wide range of challenging and stimulating work will be on offer to the successful candidate, including:

  • Securitised derivatives and structured products
  • Repackagings
  • OTC derivatives
  • Repos
  • Stock lending
  • Strategic equity financings
  • A range of debt capital markets transactions

The team is entrepreneurial and flexible, looking for a bright, proactive Lawyer who is keen to learn, develop and help continue providing excellent work product for valued clients.

In order to be successful in your application for this role, you will be an ambitious and talented derivatives, structured finance and/or debt capital markets Lawyer, probably with experienced gained from the London market. Although experience across the range of products the team covers will be a bonus, it will be expected that you'll be able to learn and to apply existing skills to new product areas.

You will probably be:

  • A qualified lawyer with 1-5 years' post-qualification
  • Experienced in drafting and negotiating a range of derivatives and structured finance documentation
  • Able to build and maintain strong client relationships
  • Good at drafting, and able to translate legal theory into practical advice
  • Able to exercise sound judgment, and have good interpersonal and consultancy skills
  • Able to have excellent presentation and marketing skills
  • Enthusiastic, energetic and keen to experience a wide range of work and clients.
