Our client are seeking a versatile and experienced Assistant Site Manager to join their expanding team, specialising in CAT A and CAT B commercial fit-outs. This London based role involves travel to project sites nationwide and offers a unique opportunity to combine hands-on trade skills with on-site leadership.

This position is ideally suited to someone with a strong joinery background and a proven track record of working across multiple trades. You'll be expected to take a practical, tool-on approach-completing tasks yourself where needed-while also supervising small teams and subcontractors to ensure smooth and successful project delivery.



Key Responsibilities

  • Take an active, hands-on role on-site, carrying out a wide range of general building and fit-out tasks, with a focus on quality and detail.

  • Lead by example, stepping into a supervisory role to coordinate trades and subcontractors as project needs dictate.

  • Act as the key on-site point of contact, liaising with the Project Manager and other stakeholders to ensure progress, quality, and compliance.

  • Read and interpret technical drawings to carry out work and guide others effectively.

  • Maintain a safe and organised site environment, ensuring full compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.

  • Monitor progress and assist with resolving any on-site challenges promptly and professionally.

  • Contribute to the overall delivery of projects on time, within budget, and to a high standard.



Requirements

  • SMSTS certification is essential.

  • A strong background in joinery with the ability to turn your hand to multiple trades.

  • Experience in a Working Foreman, Site Supervisor, or similar hands-on leadership role within CAT A and CAT B fit-outs.

  • Comfortable taking ownership of minor works while leading and coordinating others when needed.

  • Strong understanding of construction processes and site management best practices.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a practical, can-do attitude.

  • Willingness to travel nationally as required.
