As a Packaging Innovation manager and a specialist in rigid plastics and injection moulding for a global company, you will lead and manage complex projects from ideation to commercialization, providing technicaladvice andsolutionsregarding allpackaging requirementswithaparticularspecialismof different packaging substrates such as rigids plastics, printed flexibles, labels, and cartons. Working closely with key global department as packagingdevelopmentmanager you willownpackagingspecificationsandimplementationprocessa newandexistingproduct portfolio for the next generation pipeline of packaging for products.

Flexibility on location within the South East and hybrid working.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadprojectsthroughallstagesofinjectionmouldingprocess implementation,fromconceptevaluationthroughcommercialisation
  • Leads development of specifications and acceptance protocols to enable the purchase production injection moulds and moulded components.
  • Leadpilot andcommercialmouldstrialrunandmakesurethenewprojectlaunchonscheduleandsuccessfully.
  • Manages suppliers to ensure in the design, development and implementation of injection moulds and conversion of components is doneintime andto pre-agreed standards.
  • Manage complex projects from design concept, prototype, build and commercialization of rigids (plastics, metals), printed flexibles, labels,andcartonstructures.
  • Provide technical support and collaborate with other functions of the business in resolving technical issues during design anddevelopment.
  • Provide technical support to procurement on new and existing packaging sourcing requirements, identifying, and actualising opportunitiesforcostand qualityimprovement.
  • Traveltosuppliers/plantstosupportdevelopment/fine-tuningandorspecificationrelease.

Qualifications / Experience

  • Degree (BSc/BEng/MChem/MSci/ PhD), Polymer Science Materials, Engineering, Packaging
  • Previous experienceofpackagingdevelopmentofInjectionMouldingpackaging(plastic andmetal)andflexibleplasticpackaging,experienceofdevelopingcomplexinjectionmoulded packaging.
  • Knowledgeofuseandpropertiesofcommonplasticmaterials especiallypolyolefins andglobalsustainability developmentsinplastics.
  • Preferred Experiencedeliveringrigid&flexibleplasticpackaginginnovationsfromconcepttolaunch
  • Experienceofrapidprototypingtechniquesespecially relatedtodevelopmentofinjectionmouldedpackaging.
  • ExperienceofusingCADsoftware(SolidWorks,etc.)andFEMSsoftware(Moldflow).
  • Exceptional packaging skills to lead all areas within packaging materials, e.g. plastics, paperboard etc. structural packaging and process development - focus on sustainable material.
  • Proven experience of leading projects in previous roles required to lead and influence internal and external stakeholders in a matrix organisation in industries like FMCG / Healthcare/Pharma/ /Nutraceuticals/ Medical devices or key packaging organisations.
  • Extremely commercially minded and open minded to business transformation.
  • Can clearly identify technical risks and trouble shoot them.
  • Strongengineeringanalysisskillsincludingtoleranceanalysis,DFA,DFM,DFMEA,validationanddocumentation.

Salary dependent on experience - over 80k Package - Bonus: 30% | Holiday: 25 days | Pension: 20%
